To Travel the World - Ships

Travelling by ship is a common and simple process: board the ship, and let it take you somewhere. Ships don't come as much of a surprise, since there's so much water to travel around in. After all, if it's all there, why not use it to your advantage? They tend to lead to major cities, so newbies may easily travel across the lands quickly, easily, and cheaply (boat travel fares tend to be little to none).

Although some may be interested in player-controlled boats, it probably wont happen. The ocean is a massive place, which stretches out, and looks exactly the same, for miles around. It's easy to get lost in such a place, and would be almost completely empty of anything interesting besides a spot of deep-sea fishing. Also, since boats tend to be wind/steam powered, it would be, with wind, very subjective where to go or, with steam, blindingly slow. In a nutshell, player-controlled boats is unlikely to appear in WoW.

However, there will be other interesting activities to do on a ship. Each ship has a different theme, to pass those long minutes away. Onboard a ship you can partake in a wide varierity of mini-games. The nature of those mini-games are not revealed yet, as they aren't yet implented in the Alpha.
