Emotes

Everyone loves emotes! Emotes are pre-generated macro sayings and actions that just require the proper code (text/name) to activate. The text will be changed based on who you have selected. If you do not have a target, most emotes will give special, sometimes especially funny text. (To remove a target, press the ESC key). If you select a specific person, such as yourself or another player, the text generated will often work that player's name into the text. Give it a try:

Type: "/thank" result-> "You thank everyone around you"
Type: "/thank" (while selecting someone) result-> "You thank Furen Longbeard."
Make sure you select the right person before doing the emote. Some emotes have animations, some do not. You can create your own emotes by typing "/em text."
To perform an emote type "/emotename." Listed below are the names of some emotes you can try. This may not be a complete listing.

/emote <message> (alias '/e or /em') - creates an emote

Disarm
Some monsters can disarm your character. You will begin fighting hand-to-hand which you might notice will increase your unarmed skill. Disarm will only disarm weapons and will select the weapon in the off-hand if there is no weapon in the main hand slot.

Monster "Resists" your Spell
There is nothing you can do against a monster resisting your spell except keep casting. Monster resists typically happen when the monster is higher level than you, so hunting lower level mobs is your best bet if your current opponent repeatedly resists your spells. Monster resists are not the same thing as "resistances."

Monster Flee
Humanoid and certain other types of monsters run when they are about to die. They often run for help. You need to find some ability to stop them before they are able to draw other monsters into the fight. You can use a direct damage (dd) spell, an ability that slows or stuns the enemy, or an ability that holds a monster in place so that you can fight them. Otherwise you might have to fight the fleeing monster's buddies!

Monster Spell casting
If the monster starts casting a spell such as Healing, you should try to interrupt their spell casting. For example the Paladin's Fist of Justice. Other classes have their spells to interupt an enemies spellcasting, just be prepared and have them ready.

Spell Interruption
As with monsters, player spells can be interrupted. However, monsters can interrupt player spell casting simply by making an attack that does damage rather than using special spell interruption abilities. If you are attacked while casting a spell, extra time will be added to the casting progress bar. You do not damage the enemy while casting a spell, which means they are getting free hits on you. Quickly decide if the spell is worth the wait and damage, then act accordingly.

Casting spells on yourself
You can quickly cast a spell on yourself by holding down "alt" while clicking the spells hotkey.
